Thompson Proposes Green Jobs For Indiana
Indiana Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson is pushing green jobs to cure the states ails. Long Thomposon’s plan proposes to invest millions of state dollars for developing clean energy technologies, that will stimulate the state’s economy and add thousands of jobs in the process. In what she feels is the way of the future, Long Thompson points the finger at current Indiana Governor, Mitch Daniels, for “not doing enough”, and not making the state energy efficient. Of the states current $35 million budget, Long Thompson would put half in into the 21st Century Research and Technology Fund, which provides energy and environmental companies resources to further their development. Long Thompson also proposes to initiate a $10 million program for a Clean Energy Fund, in efforts to bolster wind, solar, and biomass technologies. She also calls for all state facilities to meet a new standard of energy efficiency. As well as a provision for companies to receive a 3% tax credit, if they purchase equipment to reduce energy costs. Indiana ranked 6th on the nation’s highest carbon footprint, and 49th on Forbes Green state list. http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com
